A Special Gram Sabha was organized at the Panchayat on 2 October 2026 as part of the “Swachhata Hi Seva” campaign. The programme was conducted in connection with Gandhi Jayanti with the objective of creating awareness among the public about the importance of cleanliness and strengthening community-based initiatives to make the Panchayat a clean, hygienic, and waste-free area.

The Gram Sabha was attended by elected representatives of the Panchayat, officials, Kudumbashree members, Haritha Karma Sena members, ASHA workers, representatives of various voluntary organizations, and the general public. Various issues such as waste management, segregation of waste at source, reduction of plastic waste, cleaning of public places, management of biodegradable waste, and cleanliness awareness were discussed.

The participants emphasized the importance of avoiding littering, segregating waste at households and institutions, making effective use of the services of the Haritha Karma Sena, and ensuring the cleanliness of public places. Various suggestions were also put forward to ensure greater public participation in cleanliness and sanitation activities.

The programme concluded with a cleanliness pledge and various awareness activities as part of the “Swachhata Hi Seva” campaign. It was also decided to consider the suggestions raised during the Gram Sabha and take appropriate follow-up action.
